Accessibility

Zhithera wants everyone to be able to browse, understand and buy from zhithera.shop, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. This page sets out the standard we work to, the tools we provide, what we know is still imperfect, and how to reach us if something does not work for you.

The Standard We Work To

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our reference standard. WCAG is published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is the standard most widely referenced in accessibility legislation.

Conformance status: partially conformant. Partially conformant means parts of this site do not yet fully meet the standard. We are not claiming full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, and we would rather say so plainly than overstate it.

Accessibility Tools On This Site

Every page carries an accessibility button on the left edge of the screen. Opening it gives you the following controls:

Control What it does
Text size Enlarges body text in three steps, up to one and a half times its normal size, without breaking the page layout.
Line spacing Four levels of line height, which makes long passages easier to track.
Contrast High contrast, dark, or fully inverted colour.
Stop animations Freezes movement and transitions across the whole site.
Highlight links and headings Outlines them so page structure is visible at a glance.
Large cursor Replaces the pointer with an oversized, high-contrast one.
Reading guide A horizontal band that follows your pointer to keep your place in the text.

The button and every control inside it can be reached and operated by keyboard, and the panel closes with the Escape key. Your choices are stored on your own device and stay in effect as you move from page to page. “Reset all” clears them.

These controls change how the site looks and behaves for you. They are a convenience layer, not a substitute for building the pages properly — that is where most of our effort goes, and it is what the next section is about.

What Is Built Into The Pages

  • Every page declares its language, so screen readers pronounce content correctly.

  • Every image on the site carries an alternative text attribute. Images that convey information are described; images that are purely decorative are marked as such so screen readers skip them instead of reading a file name.

  • A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches on each page, so you do not have to tab through the whole navigation to get to the content.

  • Keyboard focus is always visible. Focus outlines appear for keyboard users without changing anything for people using a mouse.

  • Our policy and content pages use one page-level heading followed by an ordered heading structure, so a page can be navigated by heading rather than read from start to finish.

  • Form fields and body text are sized so mobile browsers do not zoom the page unexpectedly when a field is focused, and interactive controls have a touch target large enough to hit reliably.

  • We check text and background colour combinations against the WCAG contrast minimum when we design and revise pages.

  • Where we add motion, we honour the operating-system “reduce motion” setting.

Known Limitations

We would rather list these than let you discover them:

  • Third-party components embedded in our pages — payment, chat and social widgets — are outside our direct control and may not meet the same standard.

  • Video content does not yet carry captions or transcripts throughout.

  • Some older product descriptions still contain formatting that reads awkwardly through a screen reader. We correct these as we revise them.

  • We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit.

Assistive Technology and Browsers

We work against current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on both desktop and mobile, and we aim to support screen readers including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver.

If you use a different combination and something does not work, please tell us. A first-hand report of what failed is far more useful to us than any automated check.

Telling Us About a Problem

If you meet an accessibility barrier on zhithera.shop, it helps us most if you can tell us:

  • The page address you were on.

  • What you were trying to do.

  • The assistive technology, browser and device you were using.

That is usually enough for us to reproduce the problem and fix it rather than guess at it.

Requesting Content Another Way

If a page, document or product detail on this site is not accessible to you, we will supply the same information another way — by email, as plain text, or read out by a member of our team — at no charge. Tell us what you need and which format works for you.

Technical Specifications

Accessibility of zhithera.shop relies on the following technologies working with your browser and any assistive technology or plug-ins installed on your device:

  • HTML

  • WAI-ARIA

  • CSS

  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standard used.

How We Assess Accessibility

We assess the accessibility of zhithera.shop by self-evaluation: keyboard-only and screen-reader walkthroughs of the main journeys (browsing, product pages, cart and checkout, account, help center), automated checks for contrast, alternative text and heading structure, and a review of every new page or module before it goes live. We repeat the full walkthrough at least twice a year and after any significant redesign.

About This Statement

This statement was prepared on 10 September 2026 and last reviewed on 24 September 2026. It applies to zhithera.shop and the account, cart and checkout pages served from it; it does not cover third-party sites we link to. We update it whenever the site changes in a way that affects accessibility, and at least once a year.

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility problem, tell us so and we will escalate it to the person responsible for the website. You may also contact the consumer-protection or disability-rights body in your country.
