Personal scent creation starts with preference, not guesswork. How Scent Profiling Works

Profiling is a structured way to translate what you like into a repeatable blend. Start with three families: top notes that arrive first and feel bright and immediate, heart notes that form the core character, and base notes that linger and anchor the composition. For Zhithera, the choice of oil line matters as much as the notes.

Pure botanical essential oils are small-molecule and disperse quickly, and the scent also fades quickly because nothing is added to fix it. They suit close-range use in small and mid-sized rooms such as a bedroom, study, car, or a reading or yoga corner. Designer fragrance oils come in 100 ml, in four scents, formulated by Givaudan. They hold longer, stay consistent between batches, and support larger rooms and hospitality use. Put simply, botanical essential oils are the small-and-close choice and fragrance oils are the large-space, long-hold choice. One device runs both.

Build a Profile in Three Steps

Step 1. Map your preference anchors

Choose one anchor from each sensory direction. Bright and fresh, warm and cozy, green and herbal, soft and floral, woody and resinous. Write the three you return to most often. This becomes your scent map. If you prefer clean and airy mornings, bright citrus and fresh herbal notes are common anchors. If you prefer enveloping evenings, warm woody and soft floral anchors appear more often.

Step 2. Pick a structure

A simple 3-part structure works well for beginners. One top note for the first impression, one heart note for the body, and one base note for the finish. Keep the total number of oils low. Different oils should not be mixed in one cartridge because the scents muddy each other. Swapping the cartridge is the cleaner way to change scent. For a custom blend order, the blender can pre-mix the ratio for you and you load it into a fresh cartridge.

Step 3. Match oil type to space

For a bedside table, desk or car, meaning close personal range up to about 5 square metres, use the low or intermittent setting with either oil line. For a bedroom, study or private office of about 10 to 15 square metres, use low to medium; choose fragrance oil if you want the scent to hold longer. For a living room, home office or small shop of about 15 to 30 square metres, run medium day to day and high before guests arrive, mainly with fragrance oil. For a large living room, duplex or commercial space between about 30 and 380 square metres, use fragrance oil on high continuous, and consider more than one unit in very large open plans. About 380 square metres is a measured maximum coverage for the D1 running high continuous output with fragrance oil. Actual coverage varies with ceiling height, ventilation, partitions and open windows.

Blending Rules for Waterless Micro-Mesh

Zhithera’s mesh is low viscosity friendly. Pure single-note oils, blended oils cut with a natural atomization solvent rather than a carrier oil, and the bio-based fragrance oils are all low viscosity and do not clog the mesh. Oils that clog are usually ones diluted with carrier oils such as grapeseed, jojoba or olive.

Measured oil consumption on the D1 is 0.14 ml per hour on the low intermittent setting, 0.87 ml per hour on medium, and 4.3 ml per hour on high continuous. At those rates one full 6.5 ml cartridge lasts about 46.5 hours on low, which is roughly two days, about 7.5 hours on medium, and about 1.5 hours on high continuous. The low setting is the economical everyday choice. The high continuous setting exists to fill a space quickly rather than to run all day.

A 30 ml bottle of oil is about 600 drops. At 3 to 5 drops per use, every other day, one bottle lasts roughly 3 to 6 months. Refilling one cartridge about five times uses about 32.5 ml of oil, so one cartridge pairs with roughly one 30 ml bottle or about three 10 ml bottles. Replacing the cartridge about every five refills keeps mist output at its best.

The D1 mini has three modes: mode 1 mists for 10 seconds every 5 minutes, mode 2 mists for 15 seconds every minute, and mode 3 is in-car motion sensing that wakes on vibration and mists for 5 seconds every 2 minutes. The one-second magnetic cartridge swap makes it easy to test profiles in the car and at home.

From Profile to Product

Start with a small discovery set. Choose three to five single-note pure botanical essential oils that match your anchors. Test each for a day on low in your target space. Note the first impression, the mid character, and how long the aroma remains noticeable. This builds your personal reference library.

When you are ready to lock a signature, order a custom blend. Provide your top, heart and base anchors, the room size, and whether you want a close-range botanical profile or a longer-hold fragrance profile. Care and Consistency

Store oils sealed and away from light, heat, flame and children. Citrus oxidises faster and is best used within a reasonable time after opening. Oils are for diffusion only. They should never be applied to skin or swallowed, and devices and oils belong out of reach of children and pets. Rooms should be ventilated.

Citrus oils such as lemon, sweet orange, bergamot and grapefruit naturally contain photosensitive compounds. They are for diffusion only, and should not contact skin that will then be exposed to sunlight. People with high blood pressure, a history of seizures, or who are pregnant should seek advice before using rosemary. Cats and dogs are more sensitive to tea tree oil. Ventilate the room, use the lowest setting, let the animal leave freely, and keep the oil out of reach. Pregnant or breastfeeding people, infants, older adults, and anyone on medication or with a chronic condition should consult a qualified professional before use.

The diffuser body and the charging dock are durable goods, covered by 365-day replace-not-repair on faults that are not user-caused. The cartridge, including its atomizing mesh, is a consumable. Once it has been used it falls outside warranty and replacement. If a unit arrives leaking, with a broken seal, or produces no mist before first use, customers should contact support within 15 days of delivery.
